Hi, At our site we are down to one person monitoring both ssius. I am pushing for getting KVM extenders to have control of both machines at one desk. Also to add at least one camera on each monitoring the travelling deflector so I can see when mail I'm purging has cleared the infeed.

Why use KVM extenders when you can do it through software and network. If you're not Windows NT savvy, just load RealVNC on equipment you want to monitor/control and you're all set. Management might not like it but they don't need to know. You can actually monitor all your equipment on network and have full control. This works across all platforms. Oh one exception: This does not like RS Logix!
Cheers! Juan

jflores0002 I don't think the added software is gonna fly. We have one desk there away from the screens, so the hardware fix i this case is the solution, but thx.

No problem. That is how I run both SSIUs from 1 location and I can do this from either SSIU. Cheers Juan

Here at Memphis NDC we added a Cimplicity viewer box at our desk that runs a screen for both SSIUs. Whenever a problem occurs on one SSIU, that screen will pop to the front at full screen. Also added changes to the belt PLCs that will sound the buzzers whenever the SSIU goes down.

Hi Norwood, We had the Cimplicity viewer in place for a short time, but it was to monitor the SSIUs from the ET shop. I'd be interested in knowing from others if their site leaves them unattended and monitored from a remote site , or like us, typically one ET of mech on location.

Hi guys! I am at the Greensboro NDC. Here we build a platform for each SSIU that is around 4' high beside the 3S01 belt and placed a montor and mouse there. Cut a section of side wall out and part of our job is to pull busted mail and junk out before it goes on down stream. I feel that if they are running both machines it is to much for one guy to run both and have to cull also but sometimes we do it. We had a stop/start station on the platform until someone said it wasnt safe and management had it removed. We have plans to put a drop chute under the blow down units which will help a bunch!

HI John, at our site they cut out the sidewall out from the takeaway belt for culling but is rarely used. More frequently we climb a ladder to 3s01 when we hear metal or noisy coming down the spiral. I will manual purge a lot to clear out bad piles of mail as well. I'm trying to get them to cull mail before it gets to SSIUs but it's an uphill battle, but it shouldn't be.

We run with one ET or MPE most of the time. We also installed a "Pause" button at the XS04 belt before the blower to manually get the trash out. Also the side wall at XS05 was replaced with plexi-glass that slides in and out to help get the heavy stuff out.

HI at our site we used kvm cables to extend the video/kb/mouse to the table from both ssiu's SPC computers. We have a Swann Home security system installed covering both SSIU's with 16 camera's at key points on the SSIU with a DRVR to display all 16 images on a 27 inch monitor. We now can watch Cimplicity screen's on the SSIU monitor's and see the camera images all at once. The DVR is connected to it's own LAN down to Maintenance and the ET shop were all images can be watched by the Supveisor's and the E.T.'s. For better a better view each image can go full screen at the SSIU and at the maintenance & e.t. shop.

Hey SFNDC, That sounds about perfect! Do you have a mech up monitoring the machine? We're so shorthanded that et's are always on either APPS or SSIUs.

We have cim running on a computer up on a platform above the SSIU's, we put a switch in with ssiu 3 monitor ran the 100 network through it to platform and ssiu 3 computer. Once you are on the net you can connect to both ssiu's. We also put a video card with 4 inputs that we run our infeed video into so we can monitor the infeed pd's on the platform also.
