Just wanted to ask how many places out there still let the ET's maintain their FMPCS equipment? Load software, fix or replace computers etc? At the Cincinnati NDC, our access is pretty limited compared what it used to be.

Hi Newt, We still replace computers and load software as needed on the old FMPCS computers, but they so rarely change software that there's not much to do! Most of the time I spend in the computer area is going on Allen Bradlay to check vfd operation.

We maintain all the FMPCS equipment. Don't have any competent people outside of maintenance willing to take it over.

Just wanted to ask how many places out there still let the ET's maintain their FMPCS equipment? Load software, fix or replace computers etc? At the Cincinnati NDC, our access is pretty limited compared what it used to be. Here at the CNDC, we allow the computer room guys to maintain the softeware, with the understanding that it's within our area of maintenance. We don't have many competent Et's unfortunately but, I have gone in before to make repairs that SCIO gave up on. Our breed is dying. This is why I love this forum. It gives us a chance to brainstorm. I'm old school.

Can anyone tell me if there is updated software for the CPOCS system? We are using windows 2000 server systems. This is antique. I ordered 4 new computers for the main servers and the maintenance computer but, forgot that windows 2000 server operating systems can't run on updated hardware. Help me out guys.

Here In Dallas we are using NT4 on ACE1 computers for CPOCS and FMPCSCIM. We just aquired some ACE 2 computers and loaded Win2K as replacement for viewers throughout the facility. The CCTVs are still on the original pentium computers, the capture cards will not work on anything newer.

I got a copy of the NDC Technology update for Jan 2015 under the General MHE projects update "CPOCS MOCS 1 upgrade" It says all sites will recieve a DAR template in February to submit for the upgrade, new servers and Cimplicity 8. This same update has an MMO to replace IVS/LVS sensors. MMO-001-15 NSN for sensor is 5961-17-00-5005 Mounting Kit 5341-17-000-5448

We also use ACE boxes as replacements for everything except the CCTVs. We have to use legacy parts to keep those going. We use WIN2000 and XP for the viewers but the servers have to be NT4 to stay compatable with the Dynair and keyboard/mouse switcher. This spring we are upgrading to the new servers(WIN7) and Cim 8 as Stevet explained. Our mailflow room is being demolished and everything moved to the front of the building office area. They will use 4 big screen TVs divided into quads and octets and all the cctv coax cables will be pulled to the steel and fed into a IP multiplexer that will distribute the feed to our internal LAN.

We've had MOCS in St. Louis for around 7 years now. In my experience it is a good upgrade hardware wise, and is nearly identical software wise. We got the change when the BMCs were being "upgraded", but I believe that project got canceled soon after our facility was finished (KC and St. Louis were upgraded from my understanding). At any rate, the MOCS conversion is something to look forward to, IMO.

Sea NDC ETs still maintain FMPCS, we just finished loading 8.1B on all the controllers.
I would like to see another thread on MOCS. We are considering the move, we are still running a lot of the old stuff. Wow, I thought we were the only one running the DynAir switcher still running.

Here in Kansas City we let a couple of sharp custodians handle all the FMPCS stuff. They changed passwords and the rest of us are locked out.
